Marathon Training Week Six

So week six was an improvement on week five, in that I did all my planned runs (two 5 fast miles and a comfortable 10 miles) but it was a tough week.  I had to work so hard to hit the right speed on my fast runs, although I was definitely feeling stronger on my long run today.  I think maybe I had come to expect that I would just keep getting faster every week so the plateau is a little hard on my ego – or maybe it just takes longer to get over a cold than I realised!  It did mean that I didn’t particularly enjoy the first two runs of the week.  Today was a different story – it was so lovely to run through central London, along the river, and it makes me feel lucky to live in such a beautiful city.

Next week is the end of the ‘go faster’ phase and then it’s on to increasing the distance – eek!

Miles run – 20 miles

Average pace – 9.01 min/mile

Listening to – Guns’n’Roses, Rock Star – soundtrack – basically lots of rock!
