Living life

The February Round Up

Longer days.  It’s now light before 7am in London these days which means my early morning runs are now just about fully in daylight…no more dragging myself out in the dark 🙂

Mysore yoga.  I’ve been practising regularly again for about three months now and I’m noticing such a difference in my strength and flexibility.  Particular highlights this month include being able to sit comfortably in full lotus for at least two minutes (baby steps!) and learning the full standing, seated and closing sequences.

Uniqlo Ultra Light Down. I don’t know how I would have survived the winter without this!  It’s so light and so warm; I wear in under all of my coats, but it has especially meant that I have been able to wear my battered leather jacket throughout the winter months.  A particular bonus as I completed failed to buy myself a decent coat this year!  Having been away so much over the past couple of years, I’ve not really bothered and this year, I failed to realise that it would be impossible to buy a proper coat after November – but it was so warm here until January!  Still, lesson learned – I’ll be winter coat shopping in August this year….don’t get me started on how ridiculous this is!

Hannibal.  I’ve just been binge-watching the first two seasons of this very dark and brooding show about the infamous fictional serial killer on recommendation from the man in my life.  It’s gruesome with a really unsettling soundtrack but I have been totally gripped by it!  Excited about watching season 3 with him soon!

The Lively Show.  My absolutely favourite podcast at the moment.  Jess is all about living life with intention and her shows are full of though-provoking discussions with all sorts of interesting people.  This podcast is really changing my attitudes and thought patterns (in a wholly positive way) – I cannot recommend this enough!

Bang Said the Gun.  Last week, I went to my first stand-up poetry show.  I was a little sceptical about what might happen but I LOVED IT!  All of the poets were so talented.  Their ability to use language to express the full range of human emotion makes me feel entirely inadequate and illiterate writing about it.  There were funny poems, angry poems, poems that were a call to arms and a critique of government policy; there were sad poems, and love poems, and St Paul’s Letters to Corinthians in the style of Eminem.  If you’re in London, GO!  Bang are also launching an event up in Manchester if you’re up North.  Thank you to the gorgeous Juliet for organising it 🙂

I’m Excited About….

The Mindful Chef.  I just found out about this week (it’s been such a long day that I can’t even remember where I stumbled across it!).  It’s one of this recipe services but brilliantly does a great plant-based option (I’m vegetarian), doesn’t include refined carbohydrates and does single-person portions.  I’ve used similar services in the past but have just ended up with so. much. food. that it’s not been cost-effective for my lifestyle.  The recipes look delicious so I’m super-excited to sign up and give it a go.  I really like these services as it’s so easy to try new dishes – I’m not a bad cook, just an uninspired/unimaginative one!

Take Me Beyond.  When this post publishes, I will be in the Sahara desert, “where adventure meets music”.  I am so excited about this new festival, co-organised by the talented Ben Saul Gardner….I’m trying to pack for the huge day-to-night fluctuations in the desert temperature as I write (must remember to get my passport out!).  I’ll be writing about it when I’m back next week and sharing some of my photos.

My Upcoming Holiday.  I don’t usually take two holidays in one month but it has been about two years since I went on a proper holiday (as opposed to overseas for work) and five months since I started my new job without taking a break.  So I am really looking forward to spending 3 weeks backpacking in Central America, flying into Guatemala and out of Costa Rica.

So many amazing things to look forward to!

May your life be filled with love and light xx

  1. I’ve been browsing online greater than three hours
nowadays, yet I by no means found any fascinating article like yours.
It’s lovely price enough for me. Personally, if all web owners and bloggers
made good content as you probably did, the internet can be
a lot more useful than ever before.
